“The live-streamed version of War of the Worlds: The Panic Broadcast at Gulf Coast College directed by Hank Rion was a truly special replacement for my yearly listening pleasure. For so many reasons this production was special, not the least of which is because under the most extreme of circumstances this production emerged out of the disease and fear of a world which is right now engulfed in fear and alarm of a pandemic equal to that in the story itself. From the moment I was let in to the live stream I felt that I was part of a larger audience group, even though it was just me watching. There was a sense that everyone watching was truly gathered together. The warmth of the set and the camera work early on provided the sense of community we are all craving now; To be among each other, especially in a theatre.
